Hair salon in Nogi

栃木県野木町につくった小さな美容室。

特注の木製建具で「２つの窓辺」をつくり、美容室としては最小限の面積ながら奥行きと居心地をつくり出すことを目指しました。

「髪を切る」という、おそらくずっと残り続けるであろう繊細な手作業。
そのような技術を提供する場にふさわしいよう、シンプルで明るい白い空間の中に、緑色の木製建具と染色したモルタルの床をつくり、職人による手作業の跡を残しています。

By creating “two window spaces” with custom-made wooden fittings, we sought to bring a sense of depth and comfort to the salon despite its minimal footprint.

Haircutting is a delicate craft performed by hand—one that will likely endure far into the future. To create a space that reflects this kind of craftsmanship, we introduced green wooden fittings and a hand-stained mortar floor into an otherwise simple, bright white interior, leaving subtle traces of the craftspeople’s hands throughout the space.
