Yilan Transfer Station

台湾の首都・台北からバスで１時間の地方都市・宜蘭県のバスターミナル新築プロジェクト。１年の半分以上が雨のこの場所で、雨を遮り、人々が自然と入ってこられる場所となるよう、開放的な半外部の空間を提案した。付近の歩道、タクシー乗り場、駐車場を一体的に計画することで周辺環境とシームレスにつながっている。地下には二層分の駐車場が計画されている。

一帯は今後開発がなされる予定であり、未だ残る農地や空地などの大きな風景をこの場所に残すため、敷地を最大限使った大屋根とした。屋根の上では雑草が風に揺れる。

This project involves the construction of a new bus terminal in Yilan County, a regional city located an hour's bus ride from Taiwan's capital, Taipei. Given that this area experiences rainfall for more than half the year, we designed an open, semi-exterior space that not only provides shelter from the rain but also creates a naturally inviting entrance for visitors. The project integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, incorporating adjacent sidewalks, a taxi stand, and parking facilities, while featuring two levels of underground parking.

As the area is slated for future development, we aimed to preserve elements of the existing landscape, which still features expansive farmland and vacant lots. To achieve this, we designed a large-scale roof that maximizes the site's potential. The roof itself becomes part of the natural environment, with wild grasses swaying in the wind atop its surface.
